United sign the Argentine winger for a British transfer record of £59.7m.
The Manchester United fans will be happy to have finally landed a marquee signing in the form of the man from Rosario in Argentina. Di Maria, who was voted Man of the Match in the Champions League Final back in May, will wear the coveted number seven jersey at Old Trafford and has signed a five year contract.
He was also the highest provider of assists in Europe’s top five leagues last season with 17 so Van Gaal will hope he can replicate that form in the red jersey of United. The 26 year old will certainly add pace to a very ponderous United attack and although the fee is huge, time will tell whether it’s a good piece of business or not.
