Margaret Thatcher has died today at the age of 87 following a stroke.

The first and only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will probably be most well-remembered for her part in the controversial Falklands War during the 1980s, as well as playing important roles in the Anglo-Irish agreement and moves towards the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Never the most popular personality here in Ireland, she survived an attempt on her life in 1984 when the IRA bombed the Grand Hotel in Brighton during the Conservative Party Conference.
She lived for another 29 years though and, according to her spokesperson Lord Bell, “died peacefully following a stroke this morning.”
