O’Neill says “informal talks” have taken place…

Speaking to a press conference this evening, O’Neill confirmed that Keane and the Scottish club are in discussions but the Republic of Ireland manager expects Keane to be with him for Saturday’s friendly game against Italy.

When asked if the former Manchester United star will be going on the team’s tour of America, O’Neill responded: “We’ll take it step-by-step.”

O’Neill confirmed that Celtic owner Dermot Desmond rang him personally to discuss the possibility of speaking to Keane and MON said he can see the attraction: “I’d be disappointed if he was to go, but a club like Celtic is a very big club and those offers don’t come around too often.”

He also added that he has no regrets about taking on Keane as his assistant: “For what I wanted from Roy’s role, he has produced. Nobody would be more disappointed than myself if he leaves.”

So it looks like Roy is on his way to Glasgow.
