Wow.
The rest of Ireland was just a bit tiny bit jealous of Donegal last night as pictures began to surface on social media of the Northern Lights that were visible from parts of the county, such as a quite beautiful one sent into us by photographer Rita Wilson yesterday evening.
It wasn’t just around here that Aurora Borealis was visible as there were numerous sightings in Britain as well, but you won’t see a better picture of them than the one that was taken from a NASA satellite last night.
I think NASA wins the #Aurora pics. Unfair advantage 🙂 #stunning pic.twitter.com/INF7BPVn3E

Judging by a tweet from the NASA account (redirected from the account of astronaut Mike Hopkins) last night, it seemed that the southern lights weren’t all that bad to look at either (we love the first question underneath)…
.@AstroIllini tweeted this image earlier this evening, saying the “southern lights were absolutely stunning tonight!” pic.twitter.com/rnwNFrHPxo
