While we get the impression Fergie will be in the Old Trafford hotseat for a few years yet, Paddy Power have dramatically cut the odds on his successor after overnight betting.

The 71 year-old has just celebrated his 13th Premier League crown as United boss and the club confirmed that the Scot will undergo hip surgery this summer that may seem him miss the start of the 2013/14 campaign. Now it seems the bookies think that it could be the ideal time to pave the way for a new man at the helm.
Everton’s David Moyes, himself at the heart of a great deal of speculation surrounding his own future, was 7/2 to replace his countryman at the Red Devils, but a flurry of overnight betting on the Toffees boss has seen his odds slashed to 1/2.
We would still expect Fergie to be in charge next season, but obviously some punters are parting with serious amounts of money in the belief that Moyes is to take over. Paddy Power have suggested that an arrangement could be in place that would see Moyes become an assistant for a season under Fergie before eventually taking over at the helm.
We’ll have to watch this space.
