Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2014.
There had been suggestions earlier in the season that the French defender was ready to leave the club, but the 29-year old quashed any such suggestions by putting pen to paper on the new deal.
Evra arrived at United in January 2006 along with Nemanja Vidic and has developed into one of the best left backs in the world. He has won three Premier League titles, a Champions League title and three League Cup titles in his time at United and captained the Red Devils to their last league cup success last year.
Despite such an impressive medal haul, however, Evra insists that he is as hungry for silverware as ever.
"Ever since I arrived at United, it's been a dream come true playing here," he said.
"The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
"I have won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here."
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to secure Evra’s signature, describing him as a ‘key character’ in the dressing room.
"Patrice is unquestionably one of the world's best left-backs," said Ferguson.
"He has developed into a key character in the dressing room and it is great that he has committed himself to the club.
"His experience and skill will be increasingly important to us."
