One of the more unlikely transfer moves of the summer was confirmed today.
Former Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole’s move to AS Roma was confirmed today, with the 33-year old putting pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Serie A giants.
Cole was released by Chelsea after the end of last season, which prompted interest in the defender from a number of clubs, but it is Roma who won the race to secure his signature; the club confirmed the deal this evening and released a number of pictures of Cole on their Twitter account, including one of him taking a selfie with their ridiculously cool home jersey.

Surely that’s not going to become a thing when players sign for a new club from now on, is it?
