Pic: Former Lions centre Riki Flutey’s hamstring injury is all kinds of awful looking

This is one of the worst hamstring injuries we have ever seen...

JOE

He wont be able to walk this one off…

Former Wasps and Lions centre Riki Flutey suffered hamstring damage over the weekend when playing for his new club the Wellington Lions against Canterbury.

JOE had to brush up on our medical expertise when we found out that it was a proximal hamstring tendon rupture but this looks really painful.

Flutey has returned home to ply his trade in New Zealand after nine years of playing with Wasps but this picture from his hospital bed isn’t one for the squeamish.

You may recall that Flutey was selected for the 2009 British and Irish Lions tour in South Africa where he became the first player to play for and against the British and Irish Lions in a tour match.

We didn’t know hamstrings could go so horribly wrong.

Best of luck with the recovery Riki.
