Well, that was nice while it lasted.
While we’ve all been lapping up the amazing weather for the last few weeks, pessimistic Irish people have just been waiting for the day when it would all come to an end and it would seem that that day has arrived, or it has in Galway at least.
Many parts of the country experienced heavy rain today, but Galway, which is one of the wettest places in the country as it is, seemed to bear the brunt of it if this picture tweeted by 2FM DJ Rick O’Shea (via @YvonneDeegan) is anything to go by.

With the Galway Races getting underway next week, those planning on heading along can only hope that this latest wet spell is only a temporary one, but we wouldn’t be in any way surprised if that doesn’t turn out to be the case and the brollys are out in force in Ballybrit next week.
