The comedian and actor Russell Brand has given Limerick’s own Rubber Bandits his seal of approval and he thinks Twitter should do the same…

Surprisingly, the comedy duo from Limerick, better known as the Rubber Bandits, are still without the little blue tick beside their name, even with over 62,000 followers.

So after Russell Brand stumbled across the very funny Bandits track ‘Spastic Hawk’, he got onto the social networking site and said, “Yeah verify @Rubberbandits @twitter look at this thing they done. Well worth a blue tick.”

We’re backing Russell on this one and hopefully the people who manage the little blue tick will come to their senses sooner rather than later. Sure, if Rebecca Black has Twitter’s seal of approval, the Bandits should too (not that we approve of Rebecca’s ‘seal of approval’, by the way).

UPDATE: Since writing this article (less than an hour ago) the fine folk at Twitter have granted the Rubber Bandits their little blue tick and to mark the occasion the lads Tweeted out the following…

Fair play to the lads for finally getting verified (in fairness, it’s about bloody time) and we look forward to seeing what they get up to on the tellybox next.
