Pic: The most scared wall you’ll ever see on an Irish football pitch

We reckon this photo won’t be appearing in any training manuals on defending. Or bravery.

We reckon this photo won’t be appearing in any training manuals on defending. Or bravery.

Remember when Samir Nasri decided to duck out of the way for a Robin van Persie free kick when he was in the wall in the Manchester Derby? Or when Adel Taarabt pulled the same trick for QPR against Wigan?

They were branded as shameful and cowards. And as professional footballers that was 100 per cent correct. But for amateur players, who are out there for the love of the game, protecting yourself against a thunderbolt from the opposition might come before team every now and then.

We don’t know who Mayo side Ballyhaunis Town were playing in this recent game but we can only imagine that the fella striking the ball here has a reputation on par with Ronald Koeman or Cristiano Ronaldo.

The three lads in the ‘wall’ shall remain nameless but they look both brutally organised and terrified at the same time.

And the keeper is not exactly covering himself in glory here either as he remains behind the wall and can’t see the strike.

Sent to us on Facebook by Caoileann Fitzmaurice with the simple message ‘Nobody ever likes being in the wall, ever!’ that certainly seems to be the case for these lads.
