Pic: The Sunday Sun absolutely went to town on Alan Pardew with their sarcastic back page this morning

It’s about as subtle as a sledgehammer but they certainly got their message across.

It’s about as subtle as a sledgehammer but they certainly got their message across.

2014 has been something of a tough year for Alan Pardew so far. Having lost his best player to PSG in the January transfer window, he has seen Newcastle’s form plummet to a disastrous degree and hasn’t exactly handled the decline in dignified fashion, having picked fights with rival managers, Hull’s David Meyler of course and the local press, who he believes have been responsible for fuelling a backlash amongst Newcastle supporters.

Following yet another defeat to Stoke yesterday, the aforementioned local press hit back, or at least the Sunday Sun did, with a brilliant fake ‘apology’ on their back page this morning, saying sorry for all the bad results that have come Newcastle’s way, as well as accepting the blame for Pardew lashing out at Meyler in an infamous incident earlier this year.

Easily the best phoney apology we’ve seen since this…
