Pic: The Wikipedia page of Celtic’s Champions League opponents was briefly tampered with today

Celtic were drawn to play against Shakhter Karagandy in the qualifying round of the Champions League today and because they’re from Kazakhstan you can probably tell where this is going.

The Hoops were handed a fairly kind assignment for the final qualifying round of the Champions League after being drawn against Shakhter Karagandy of Kazakhstan, a side who were defeated by St. Patrick’s Athletic in the Europa League the season before last.

Not many football fans will profess to knowing much about Celtic’s opponents, but because they’re from Kazakhstan somebody decided to have a little fun on their Wikipedia page today by making a fairly predictable reference to Borat, a character played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who didn’t portray the country in the greatest light in a movie a few years back.

The passage has since been deleted but if you think that’s the last time Borat will be referenced in the build-up to this game or if you think that somebody isn’t already packing a green mankini into a suitcase ahead of the away trip, then you are sorely mistaken.

Hat-tip to Pierce Callaghan for giving us the heads up on this one
