Pic: Trinity College got hit pretty hard by the heavy rain last night
After all the fine weather we’ve been having of late, the rain was bound to hit back at some stage and it did so with a vengeance last night.
Plenty of parts of the country experienced heavy showers during the day yesterday but the worst of it didn’t seem to hit the capital until last night, where the sight of lightning and the sound of thunder had many people ducking for cover under the safety of their blankets last night.
Any of you who had the misfortune to be caught out in the rain last night will know just how heavy the downpour was last night, but this picture of the front arch in Trinity College offers a pretty decent illustration of what it was like in the city centre.

Met Eireann are predicting further thundery showers across the country today and despite warm and often humid temperatures, the outlook’s not great for the weekend either we’re afraid.
Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
