Belgium defeated Serbia in a World Cup qualifier last night and captain Vincent Kompany was clearly showing the signs of battle afterwards. In fact, he probably will be for some time to come.
Kompany’s Belgium defeated Serbia 2-1 in a hard fought win in Brussels last night, during which the Manchester City centre-half suffered a broken nose and, reports suggest, a cracked eye socket and even concussion as a result of a nasty collision ten minutes before half-time.
Kompany is made of tough stuff, however, and played on for the rest of the game while also fronting up for media interviews afterwards, where it was plain to see the damage he had done to his poor noggin.

He’ll have a sore head this morning but he’ll also have the respect of his peers for playing through the pain until the final whistle. Respect.
