Pic: Zlatan has been honoured with his own set of postage stamps in Sweden

In fairness, if anyone is deserving of their own set of postage stamps, it’s this guy.

In fairness, if anyone is deserving of their own set of postage stamps, it’s this guy.

There are few more talented and certainly no more interesting footballers than Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his own country have paid tribute to the mercurial forward in a very special way, with the Swedish Post Office approving the release of postage stamps with Zlatan’s face on them to be released in March of next year.

According to thelocal.se, Ibra took an active role in the project and will feature on five different stamps that will come in a special booklet of ten stamps.

“It’s a great honour to be on a postage stamp and I’m very happy and proud to have been chosen,” said Ibrahimovic on his personal app Zlatan Unplugged.

“I usually receive bills and they seldom have nice stamps. Maybe there will be a change now,” the Swedish superstar added.

News of the postage stamps comes at a time when it seems to be all coming up Zlatan at the moment. The 32-year old is in the middle of a stunning run of form with PSG having scored another hat-trick at the weekend and is one of the leading contenders for the Ballon D’Or that will be announced early next year.

He is already the favourite to win the Puskas award for goal of the year – see all the contenders here – and has the chance to send Sweden to next summer’s World Cup when he takes part in the much anticipated contest between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo in the play-off clash with Portugal later this week.

If any footballer was ever worthy of inheriting ‘The Mailman’ nickname (because he always delivers) from former NBA star Karl Malone, then surely it’s Zlatan, especially under these circumstances.
