As blatant fouls go, this one by Tottenham’s Jan Verthongen is incredible, and the referee didn’t give it.
You see this the odd time in rugby but we can’t recall this ever happening in a football match. But Aston Villa’s Nicklas Helenius was clear through on goal when Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen grabbed him by the waist and yanked his shorts down as he was about to shoot.
Unbelievably, a penalty wasn’t awarded and the Capital One Cup tie remains 2-0 to Spurs.
