You’ve probably guessed as much already, but that headline is a big fat lie.
The Liverpool striker underwent surgery yesterday after injuring the meniscus of his knee during Uruguay training – an injury that may have originated in Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season against Newcastle – prompting fears that he would miss out on the World Cup next month.
Those fears have since been played down and Suarez is expected to have returned to fitness in time to play at least some part in the group stages, but if you thought that those reassurances would have dampened the need for updates on arguably Uruguay’s most important player in his homeland, then you’re sorely mistaken…

Suarez, to be fair to him, didn’t seem all that bothered by the attention and we’re sure Adidas will have no problem with the exposure their brand got from one of their biggest ambassadors and last night, the man himself was keen to thank everyone for all the support he has received in recent days.
Thank you very much for the messages of support, love and encouragement throughout the day! The strength that my loved ones give me… (1/2)

We’re going to be hearing a lot more about Suarez’s progress in the next three weeks, we’d wager.
