Cavan’s Rory Dunne ended up pretty bloodied and bruised after a tight game with Fermanagh today

It was a very tight contest between Cavan and Fermanagh in today’s Ulster quarter-final, and although Cavan took an early lead, they were pegged back time and again until the closing stages when two crucial points from Martin Dunne proved to be the difference.

Mayo beat Roscommon as they were simply too strong for the Rossies, and progress to another Connacht final. Andy Moran got a few more minutes under his belt today as he came on to a huge cheer from the crowd, as well as getting a point for his troubles.

Cork beat Clare 1-20 to 1-11 at Cusack Park, and it took Clare nearly 20 minutes to get on the scoreboard, which was to prove too much of a deficit to overcome.

In the hurling, Galway beat a Laois side that was tiring towards the end of the game as they won their semi-final by 1-13 to 2-17, with the home crowd staying on to cheer their team off the pitch despite the loss after a brave display, while Down defeated Armagh by a score of 3-20 to 1-11.
