Pic: Because you must know, Andy Reid has no opinion on Paolo Di Canio and Sunderland

A lot of people have had their say on Paolo Di Canio taking the Sunderland job, but don’t ask former Black Cat Andy Reid for an opinion because he doesn’t have one. Or so it says in The Star at least.

A lot of people have had their say on Paolo Di Canio taking the Sunderland job, but don’t ask former Black Cat Andy Reid for an opinion because he doesn’t have one. Or so it says in The Star at least.

Because of the apparent fascist leanings, the Mussolini tattoo and gestures towards Lazio fans in the past, a lot of people have raised concerns about Paolo Di Canio taking over the Premier League club, so the papers have been eager to fill their pages with what people in the football world have had to say on the matter.

In that vein, The Star thought it worth seeking the views of former Irish international Andy Reid, who played for Sunderland for three years between 2008 and 2011 and might have a vested interest in what’s going on in his old club.

As it turns out, he didn’t but The Star thought that his non-opinion was worth a piece anyway and it’s fair to say that the reaction to it on social media today was withering to say the least.

As some of you will no doubt point out, we are not above a mistake or three on these pages ourselves and people in glass houses certainly shouldn’t throw stones, but maybe the red-top would have been better leaving this particular (non) story out of today’s edition.
