Pretty daycent boi! Cork fans will be delighted as Páirc Uí Chaoimh redevelopment gets whopping cash boost

The Government do something positive... we know, we couldn't believe it either!

The plans to revamp Páirc Uí Chaoimh have been given a real boost as the Government has sanctioned a €30m grant to help fund the new home of Cork GAA on Leeside.

County board chairman Bob Ryan is quoted in the Irish Examiner this morning saying: “This is just the impetus we need to get this important project going. This is stimulus funding which will help deliver a state-of-the-art stadium for the region, and which will ultimately create jobs and provide a return to the exchequer.”

The capacity of the new stadium will be 45,000, which is the same as Anfield, and they’re also building a centre of excellence hub for a total cost of €70m. Another added bonus is that the project is set to create up to 400 jobs and it’ll add more than €22m to the local economy during the building phase.

So great news all round, here’s the latest artist impression of what the whole Marina Park development will look like, pretty daycent boi…
