A Dublin recycling firm are offering the public the chance to crush a BMW previously owned by fallen Anglo Irish Bank boss Sean FitzPatrick.

Members of the public are being offered the chance to vent their frustration at self-declared “victim” of the current banking crisis by pressing the button as the one-time tycoon’s rotting 1992 BMW 3 Series faces the crusher.

Clondalkin-based National Recyling paid €1,234.56 for the car which had been seeing out its days in the grounds of Seanie’s lavish Greystones, Co Wicklow pad.

FitzPatrick’s assets are being sold off in order to pay off a portion of his huge debts.

Not that this particular asset was much use to anyone, as it wouldn’t start and had moss growing in its interior. They now plan to run a charity auction for the car.

“In one way we went after it because we had the idea of of fundraising,” said a spokesman for National Recycling.

“We would like to run a competition in which the winner would get to press the button which crushes the car.”

The spokesman insisted that he’d never met Seanie: “I’ve never met him – not even on the golf course!”
