The perils of an online reader poll were exhibited in fine style as Nirvana were voted into fifth on a list of worst bands of the 1990s.
Let’s face it, there was no shortage of crap bands in the 1990s. But on Rolling Stone’s just published list of worst bands of that particular decade, one name stands out as a bit odd.
The magazine put a call out for people to vote for the worst band and it seems that some sort of trolling has gone on to push Nirvana into fifth on the list. Even Rolling Stone themselves were not happy with the grunge legends position.
“What the fuck happened here?” they wrote. “Did the members of Warrant, Mötley Crüe, Poison and Bang Tango come together to stuff the ballot boxes? … Nirvana were a great band. Their three albums are nearly perfect, and they are guaranteed to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. We’re sorry, but everyone who voted for them in this poll is wrong.”
So apart from Nirvana, who made this list of shame. Well it was won by Creed, who are so awful we won’t put a clip up to spare your ears, and the likes of Nickelback and Limp Bizkit also make the top three.
