Sam Allardyce ‘disappointed’ Louis van Gaal didn’t invite him for a glass of wine last weekend

Sam just went back to his room and played ‘All By Myself’ on repeat. Presumably.

Poor Sam Allardyce, he just can’t find love since his old flame Fergie left him.

The West Ham manager has expressed his disappointment that new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wasn’t on hand with a tipple after the London side visited Old Trafford last weekend.

As the world’s and its hungover dog knows, Alex Ferguson used to regularly sit down with his top flight rivals after United home games to chew the fat over a glass of vin rouge.

Well, not anymore.

“I always invite the visiting manager into my office for a drink and a chat after a home game,” Allardyce wrote in the Evening Standard.

“It’s a valued tradition as far as I and most managers are concerned, a chance to have a private conversation and wind down.

“Which is why I was surprised and, yes, disappointed, that there was no such invitation following our match at Old Trafford last weekend.

“When all was done and dusted after the match, I went to where Sir Alex Ferguson was invariably waiting with a glass of wine — and everything had changed. I think the room is now used for analysis.

“I was told it didn’t happen any more, so I said “fair enough” and left.”

We have a feeling we know how this one is going to play out, with Lorraine Bracco playing the role of a lifetime as Big Sam and a contrite Ray Liotta as LvG.

Take it away…
