And well deserved too. Congratulations on a fantastic season Seamus.

It really has been a remarkable season for Ireland international Seamus Coleman and having already been recognised for his performances this season with a place in the PFA Team of the Year, last night he earned the acclaim of the Everton fans and his Everton teammates by scooping the Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the year awards.

The Donegal native, who has scored an impressive seven goals from right-back throughout the campaign, was the runaway winner of a player of the season poll voted for by Toffees fans on the Everton website, while his peers also voted him as the most impressive performer in what has been an excellent season for Roberto Martinez’s side.

Were it not for Ross Barkley’s sublime strike against Manchester City on Saturday, Coleman might also have walked away with the goal of the season award for his thunderbastard of a strike against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, but he seemed happy enough with his lot for the night.

Commenting on receiving the awards, Coleman told evertontv: “It’s indescribable to win these two accolades.

“When I arrived here in 2009 I couldn’t have imagined I’d be stood here with these awards in my hands.

“There must have been a lot of contenders for both of these awards this season and that says a lot about this team.”

The 25-year old has also gone from bit-part player to one of the first names on the team sheet in the international set-up over the last 18 months or so and is one of a number of reasons Irish fans can look forward to the upcoming Euro 2016 campaign with a healthy degree of optimism.

Hearty congratulations on the awards Seamus, they are thoroughly deserved.
