Skyfall bosses to film new horror series in Ireland

The name's Stoker. Bram Stoker.

Eoghan Doherty

According to a report on the Irish Film and Television Network website, a brand new 8-part television series is due to be filmed in Ardmore Studios, Co. Wicklow, and will star Josh ‘why am I always squinting’ Hartnett and Eva ‘please let us bump into her in Coppers’ Green.

Penny Dreadful, the brain-child of Skyfall creators Sam Mendes and John Logan, is a Vicotrian-era horror series that will look at the origin stories of a number of famous characters from the literary horror world, including Frankenstein and Ireland’s very own blood-thirsty monstrosity, Dracula.

Now that’s Oscar-nominated John Logan we said, OK?

Not Eurovision champ Johnny Logan. Although an 8-part horror series set in Victorian England from the mind of Johnny Logan would be something special alright, as “Hold Me Now” takes on a completely new meaning.

From October 2013 until March 2014, the excellent  Ardmore Studios will become the new home of Neal Productions and Showtime, as Oscar-winner Mendes revealed to the world that he’s got great taste when it comes to choosing filming locations.

JOE’s got everything crossed that the Bond-helmer will also bring the next Daniel Craig installment to the country when the time for filming comes. James Bond running through St. Stephen’s Green shopping centre with a pint of Guinness in one hand and a Walther PPK/S in the other? Yes please.
