Jose sticking the boot into a rival manager? It must be ‘mind games’ season.
The Chelsea boss and Arsene Wenger have never been the best of pals, but he reserved arguably his most stinging comments about the Arsenal boss for his press conference earlier this afternoon, when he described Wenger as a ‘specialist in failure’ and ridiculed the Frenchman for going eight years without a trophy at the Gunners.
The comments from Mourinho were in response to a quote from Wenger which said that the title was Chelsea’s to lose. Journalists at the press conference of the Chelsea boss were left stunned by the attack from the self anointed Special One, including Irish journalist Miguel Delaney, who tweeted Mourinho’s comments.
Mourinho on Wenger: "He is a specialist in failure. I'm not."

Mourinho: "The reality is he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware, that is failure."

Mourinho: "If Mr Abramovich gives me eight years… in eight years you have to build so much, so much, so much… I don't want eight years."

A fair few “oofs” – and some shocked laughter – in the press room when Mourinho said his “failure” line.

Even by Mourinho’s standards, stunned he went so far. He elaborates on why he said it in tomorrow’s papers.

Clearly they won’t be exchanging Valentine’s cards today.
