According to reports today, April 2013 was one of the coldest Aprils on record for many parts of the country. Are you surprised?
Did you enjoy the good weather last month? No, none of us did, and it’s not surprising considering that it was one of the coldest Aprils since records began.
According to Met Éireann, “All lowest air minimum temperatures were recorded during the cold period at the start of April with lowest minima of -5.6C and -6.6C recorded at both Dublin Airport and Mullingar on the 6th, their coldest April temperatures since the stations opened in 1942 (71 years) and 1950 (63 years), respectively.”
The coldest temperature recorded in April was at Mountdillon on the 6th when temperatures were a freezing -7.5C, the lowest recorded temperature in Ireland during April since 1988 (25 years).
Rainfall for the month was above average, while the sunniest day of the month was at Cork Airport on the 27th with 12.8 hours. Well for some…
As for the rest of this week, it looks to be fairly clear across the country. However, the nice clear spell will come to an end next Wednesday when it will p*ss out of the heavens.
