The best Mayo GAA song and video of the year so far

With a video that contains turf, lots of Ciaran McDonald and buckets of rain, Mayo for Sam by Chris and Dave is a sure fire hit. In Mayo anyway.

With a video that contains turf, lots of Ciaran McDonald and buckets of rain, Mayo for Sam by Chris and Dave is a sure fire hit. In Mayo anyway.

It has taken until less than a fortnight to throw in, but we finally have a cracking All-Ireland football final song and video.

The song, Mayo for Sam, was out last week but the addition of a new video elevates it into top spot in our notional All-Ireland football song charts.

Penned and performed by Chris and Dave (we don’t know their surnames so if anyone does, do let us know) the song is catchy, as any song with a chorus that goes ‘I’ll get ‘I heart James Horan’ tattooed across my chest’ should be.

But the video, which begins with a man asleep on a bed of turf, and goes on to feature tractors, rain, a fear of hurling and a Michael D Higgins impersonator, is a gem of the GAA song video genre.

Hats off to all concerned, now it’s over to Dublin to beat this.

UPDATE: It’s Chris Duffy and Dave Gallagher by the way, thanks for the help folks…
