Anthony Tohill has named an 18-man squad for the trip Down Under to face Australia in the International Rules series.
The small nature of the squad is explained by Tohill adding five more faces just before the squad departs next week.
Included in the Derry man’s panel is Dublin keeper Stephen Cluxton and retiring Aussie Rules legend Tadhg Kennelly. The Kerry man decided to give up on his AFL career after his Sydney Swans bit the dust in this year’s play-offs but he will tog out one last time and attempt to win the Cormac McAnallen Trophy for Ireland.
Ireland squad to face Australia: Stephen Cluxton (Dublin, capt.), Ciarán McKeever (Armagh, v capt.), Emmet Bolton (Kildare), Eoin Cadogan (Cork), Kieran Donaghy (Kerry), Leighton Glynn (Wicklow), Finian Hanley (Galway), Pearse Hanley (Mayo/Brisbane Lions), Darren Hughes (Monaghan), Tadhg Kennelly (Kerry/Sydney Swans), Steven Mc Donnell (Armagh), Kevin McKernan (Down), Joe McMahon (Tyrone), Neil McGee (Donegal), Michael Murphy (Donegal), Darran O'Sullivan (Kerry), Kevin Reilly (Meath), Aidan Walsh (Cork).
