On the box this evening we’re looking forward to a preview of the best event in golf, some live footy and a dark but compelling David Cronenberg thriller.
Main Event: 2013 Masters Preview, BBC Two, 11.20pm
Although the Champions League quarter-finals are a huge deal, their importance is exceeded in sporting terms this week by the Masters at Augusta, the crème de la crème of golf events in every calendar year.
Will Rory McIlroy’s good showing in Texas last week serve him well? Can Tiger rekindle past glories on a course that has been very good to him in the past? Can Bubba Watson make it back to back titles?
All those questions and more will be posed by Hazel Irvine and the team and will set the mood nicely for the next four days. We can’t wait.
Sporting Pick: Live Champions League, Barcelona v PSG, RTE Two, 7.30pm
Eight days on from their meeting in the Parc des Princes, Barcelona and PSG go head to head again in the Nou Camp and if it can live up to their first encounter then we should be in for a treat.
With two away goals and home advantage, the Catalans are firm favourites but Barca old boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the brilliant Thiago Silva will be looking to emulate Chelsea last year and cause an upset.
Movie Pick: A History of Violence, More Four, 10pm
If you like your films dark and unconventional, then David Cronenberg’s adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name is the one for you.
Viggo Mortensen stars as a quiet diner owner who becomes a local hero after foiling an attempted robbery, but his shady past as a member of the mob in Philadelphia soon comes back to haunt him and causes a strain in his relationship with his wife and family as a result.
Maria Bello and Ed Harris and William Hurt also feature in what is a very strong cast, with Hurt receiving a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his efforts.
