A new gig for the former governor of Mountjoy, Spurs battle on without Bale and the most recent of the Rocky films are on screen for your viewing pleasure tonight.
Main Event: John Lonergan’s Circus, RTE1, 22.15pm
The former governor of Mountjoy, John Lonergan, hosts this new show that bids to help eight disadvantaged kids learn some life skills via the circus.
It’s an odd idea but the trailer for it looks good as the participants head to Belfast’s Community Circus School to learn how to juggle, tumble and lots of other big top antics.
Sporting Pick: Basel v Spurs, 3e, 19.30pm
In the first leg the Swiss picked up two away goals in a 2-2 draw and Spurs talisman Gareth Bale did his ankle. Now ABV’s side must head to St. Jakob-Park minus their Welsh wizard and hope they can overturn that score and nick an away win. They fought back well against Everton at the weekend but can they do it again?
Movie Pick: Rocky Balboa, TV3, 9pm
The oldest puncher in town returns to the ring to fight Mason `The Line’ Dixon (played by Antonio Tarver) 16 years after his last bout.
Suspend belief about a man in his late 50s fighting for the world heavyweight title (not that hard these days) and this is a pretty decent flick that fits comfortably in with the rest of the Rocky series.
