The brand new series of the Apprentice UK is back on our screens, Wigan look to fend off relegation and The Day After Tomorrow is the movie choice.

The Apprentice: BBC One, 9pm

Alan Sugar begins another search for a candidate worthy of setting up in business with him – with a £250,000 investment to help get their idea off the ground in the first episode in the new series.

Sporting Pick: Wigan v Swansea, Sky Sports One, 7pm (KO 7.45pm)

Wigan are at their usual Houdini act for this time of year and a win tonight against a Swansea team with nothing to play for and without Michu would set them up nicely. You just wouldn’t back against Roberto Martinez and his troops at this stage of the campaign.

Movie Pick: The Day After Tomorrow, Sky One, 9pm

Jake Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid star in this 2004 thriller. A climatologist warns global warming will soon result in destructive freak weather, or even another ice age and storms, earthquakes and hurricanes strike in terrifying fashion, he races across America to rescue his son from a frozen New York.
