There’s some cracking entertainment in store on the box this evening, so put those feet up and take in some hilarious home-grown comedy, an Oscar-winning flick and live Champions League.
Main Event: The Savage Eye, RTE Two, 10.50pm
The live football is, quite frankly, the main event this evening but if you’re looking for a chuckle and a change of pace afterwards, The Savage Eye ticks both boxes.
This evening’s edition is a repeat for those who didn’t catch it first time around but even if you have caught it already David McWilliams’ satirical sketch show is always worth another look and another laugh.
Sporting Pick: Champions League Live, Real Madrid v Galatasaray, RTE Two, 7.30pm
The football hipsters amongst you will no doubt have your black and white television sets tuned into Borussia Dortmund v Malaga in the other Champions League game this evening, but everyone else will be focussed on whether Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba can get the better of old boss Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.
Real will start the game as hot favourites, but the Turkish side will be looking for something to hold onto ahead of what should be a cauldron of noise in Istanbul for the return leg.
Join Bill, Eamon, John Liam and company from 7.30pm.
Movie Pick: No Country for Old Men, More 4, 10pm
If you’re determined not to move from the couch all evening, there’s a cracking flick starting on More 4 just as the football draws to a close.
The Coen Brothers’ Oscar-winning portrayal of a hitman mercilessly killing his way across Texas will never be a contender for the happiest movie ever made or anything like that but it’s seriously gripping stuff and features some great performances from Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.
