This whole ‘Adam Lallana to Liverpool’ thing is getting the distinct hum of saga about it, and it goes on.

Southampton are now saying that the 26-year-old will have to issue an official transfer request if he is to force through a move to join Rickie Lambert at Anfield.

Lambert’s move to Liverpool was confirmed on Monday morning.

The Merseyside club made a final offer of £25m to the Saints for Lallana on Friday, and have yet to receive a response from the South Coast club.

The Liverpool Echo report that Southampton want closer to £30m as they owe 25% of any transfer fee to Lallana’s former club Bournemouth.

The Reds, meanwhile, hope to tie up the signing of left-back Alberto Moreno later this week after the Sevilla player was left out of Spain’s World Cup squad.

Arsenal are favourites to bring Mario Balotelli back to the Premier League after it became clear that AC Milan will let the striker go for around £20m. Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are all interested, but not as interested as Arsene Wenger is.

Manchester City are the favourites to sign Cesc Fabregas as Arsenal believe he is too similar in style to Mesut Ozil. The beauty for City is that Fabregas is seen as a ‘homegrown’ player because he spent his formative years in North London.

Inter Milan want to bring Javier Hernandez to the San Siro on loan from Manchester United, with their bid for Fernando Torres looking doomed.

Torres wants to stay at Chelsea to prove himself, which he’s pretty much been saying since sealing an ill-fated move from Liverpool in 2011.
