Transfer Talk: More Suarez, a dash of Carroll and a hint of Adebayor

Making as much sense as Joe Kinnear, here’s the best of today’s football transfer rumours.

JOE

Making as much sense as Joe Kinnear, here’s the best of today’s football transfer rumours.

The world of football was a pretty odd one last night, from Joe Kinnear’s talkSport rant to watching Tahiti’s 6-1 defeat to Nigeria. So we are in the strange situation that today’s rumours bring a sense of normality back to the world of football.

To start with, it is full of one very familiar face; Luis Suarez. All the papers say that Liverpool are getting a bit fed up with him talking about a move away all the time and they want him to back up his words with actions and put in a transfer request if he really wants to leave. His other option, according to most of the press, is shut up about Real Madrid but as we have fresh Suarez quotes every few days now, we reckon that won’t happen anytime soon.

Speaking of Liverpool strikers Andy Carroll’s large frame is also all over the papers today, and not always for footballing reasons. But on the back pages he is due to have a medical today and complete a permanent move to West Ham, with the fee reported to be £15m (Telegraph, Times), so just the £20m loss for Liverpool. Ouch. The Telegraph note that it is a six-year deal so Carroll must have the same agent as Alan Pardew…

Another big fella who may be also be rocking up to Upton Park this summer is Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Sun linking the striker with West Ham. Galatasaray are also supposed to fancy the Togo goalscorer.

Back to another familiar face now, Spanish Under 21 sensation Isco. In Spain, the Real Madrid press are linking him every day with a move from Malaga but the Daily Mirror reckon that Manchester City are going to win the race for his signature. We hope they do, mainly so we can watch him every week as the boy looks to be a top, top, top player, so to speak.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain continues, and with Juventus now interested in Carlos Tevez (London Evening Standard) it seems to be edging closer.

Another starlet, Shakhtar midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is set to have his medical at Liverpool this week, according to the Mirror. Like to see Joe Kinnear pronounce that one.

Finally, in more mundane matters, Wigan’s Maynor Figueroa has agreed a two-year deal with Hull City so we can now all put him in as an unused sub on our Fantasy Football teams again next season.
