The hottest trending artist are now available to sample through Twitter music in Ireland from today
By Adrian Collins
Twitter Music has launched today across a few countries, including on our fair shores here in Ireland, and allows you to sample the hottest trending tracks right now online.
You can see what your friends are playing in the #nowplaying section, see emerging artists, and also see some ones that Twitter suggests you might like.
The tracks played give you a little sample, and then you can choose to listen to the full version either on Spotify or Rdio, and also iTunes, with the latter being the default player when you click on an image to play.
There are some decent artists in the emerging section, and while it won’t house the most obscure tracks in the world, you can still get a few new names to add to your collection.
Currently, there’s an app for iPhone but no Android app, although you can expect that to be out pretty soon.
Obviously, somewhere down the line, the idea is for you to pay for the full track or album, but it is a handy feature, if you’ve already got Rdio or Spotify set up, that you could listen to music without leaving Twitter, and it is a good way for artists to promote their music using social media. We’ll see how this one develops.
Head to Twitter Music to check it out.
