Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Everton
Rafael van der Vaart scored his fourth Premier League goal of the season to salvage a point for Tottenham Hotspur against Everton at White Hart Lane.
The Dutch international fired home from a yard out in the 20th minute after Tim Howard spilled Alan Hutton’s cross onto the head of Peter Crouch, whose header across goal gave van der Vaart the simplest of tasks.
Leighton Baines had opened the scoring for the Toffees three minutes earlier with a superb left-footed free-kick that flew into the top corner and gave Spurs ‘keeper Heurelho Gomes no chance.
After a competitive first half, the second half was a far more pedestrian affair and although Peter Crouch and Van der Vaart both had chances for Spurs, neither side looked like scoring and a draw was a fair result.
