With a domestic league and cup double and a Champions League title in the bag, there’s no doubting Bayern Munich’s claims to being the team of 2013.

The Bavarians have conquered everyone who has crossed their path at home and abroad over the last 12 months and they have done so playing a style of football that has become the envy of all of their counterparts throughout Europe, overtaking Barcelona as the team everyone wants to emulate.

Although they were undoubtedly brilliant under Jupp Heynckes last season, some will argue that Bayern have progressed even further under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, who has moulded some of Bayern’s traditional strengths – pace, power etc, – with the tiki-taka style he encouraged at Barcelona and it hasn’t taken long to bear fruit.

Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara have added to an already star-studded squad, while the repositioning of Philipp Lahm in central midfield has worked a treat and some of the football and passing movements they have produced, as encapsulated in the video above, have been an absolute joy to behold.

Can they be stopped in 2014? It’s going to take one hell of a team to defeat them.
