Video: A tornado… in Bray? We have the footage

Maybe the Mayans were right all along. If 2012 doesn't signify the end of the world, how else do you explain the presence of a tornado in Bray?

Maybe the Mayans were right all along. If 2012 doesn’t signify the end of the world, how else do you explain the presence of a tornado in Bray?

We warned you all earlier this week about the possibility of a tornado this weekend and you all laughed – well who’s laughing now? Judging by the size of the weedy tornado in the above clip, probably plenty of people.

The initial news of the tornado stemmed from the UK Met Office this week, which said that a combination of warm ground temperatures and cold wind passing from the north west will create the perfect conditions for funnel clouds and that prediction has certainly come to pass.

The YouTube clip above was captured by user ‘aoifeno1’ and uploaded this morning under the summary: “Just about to take a photo of sunrise when I spotted this twister!”

Here’s another view of tornado from user ‘funtimusrhyme’, who informs viewers: “Taken at 6:40 AM April 14th 2012. Sudden storm passed right overhead, hail came pummeling down and this waterspout went right past the beach and broke up when it hit land on Bray Head.”

As you can see, the Bray twister from this morning is already even more formidable than the legendary Drogheda tornado from 2007, which you can be reminded of in all its terrifying majesty below:
