Video: A truly almighty goalmouth scramble from the FA Cup at the weekend

Goalmouth scrambles don’t come much better than this.

Goalmouth scrambles don’t come much better than this.

Sure, they rarely involve any skill or technical proficiency of any kind and they traditionally take place in lower league matches rather than top flight encounters, but it’s hard beat a goalmouth scramble for entertainment value on a football pitch.

Kidderminster Harriers and Peterborough United produced one of the best ones you’ll see during their FA Cup third round clash at the weekend and unlike most goalmouth scrambles, it was more down to some heroic defending rather than ineptitude on behalf of the forwards that the ball didn’t end up in the back of the net.

On two separate occasions, Kidderminster Harriers defenders managed to somehow knock the ball against their own crossbar while preventing it from going into the net and they were helped out by a number of teammates determined not to concede at all costs; with defending like that on display, it’s no real surprise the game ended 0-0.

More of the same in the replay please, lads.
