Despite being lucky to still be in the game at half time, Sunderland have clawed their way back level with this Adam Johnson goal
Things looked pretty bad for Sunderland after half an hour when they were 2-0 down and looking like they didn’t want to be on the field at all. They were lucky not to be down by more, and a very fortuitous goal from Fabio Borini saw them only going in one goal down at the half.
Since the break they have been improved, but Southampton have been the better side all day, up until Adam Johnson smashed in this powerful strike from close range.
Artur Boruc will look back and think that he should have done much better with the shot, as he somewhat flaps at it, but Johnson won’t mind as he continues his run of scoring form for another game. In Boruc’s defence, he has looked to be in a little bit of difficulty since and was looking to be subbed off afterwards, so that may have had some effect.
