Video: Aiden McGeady scores a cracker for Spartak Moscow, follows it up with ridiculous red card

The name Aiden McGeady ain’t been heard much around these parts lately but he made everyone sit up and take notice with a goal and a red card in the same game for Spartak Moscow today.

McGeady has been absent for Ireland since the trip to the Faroe Islands last October and missed out on the recent outings for the Boys in Green with a knee injury, so it was good to see him back amongst the goals in Spartak Moscow’s defeat to city rivals CSKA Moscow today.

And what a goal it was too as the former Celtic man exchanged passes with two teammates at the edge of the box before rifling the ball to the roof of the net to give Spartak the lead.

Unfortunately for McGeady, he was gone before half-time after being given his marching orders for a foul on CSKA’s Vladimir Bozovic, which, from what we can see below, appeared innocuous to say the least and had more to do with Bozovic’s reaction than anything McGeady did to him in the first place.

Was there even a hint of a slap there?

A bad day at the office for McGeady got worse when CSKA scored twice to win 2-1 in the end but at least he’s back in the goals and will hopefully be back in a green jersey before too long as well.
