Anwar El Ghazi should have immediately turned around and given the award to Jasper Cillessen for this effort.
After an impressive strike against AZ Alkmaar a few weeks back, El Ghazi was being presented with Ajax’s goal of the month award for August at the Ajax training ground, where goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was busy stealing the limelight with a fantastic header in the background.
It’s not so much the header itself but Cillessen’s apparent ability to float in the air for longer than one would think humanly possible, a feat that looks even better because it looks as if he came out of nowhere when he suddenly appears on screen behind El Ghazi’s back. You need to watch it again in the slo-mo replay to really appreciate Cillessen’s hang-time.
