Video: Anderson Silva and Pele star in the most bizarre MMA/football ad you’re ever likely to see

We didn’t think Pele could ever star in a stranger advert than those Viagra commercials but it turns out we may have been wrong.

Ahead of the Confederations Cup in Brazil, probably the world’s greatest ever footballer has made a cameo appearance in an ad starring his compatriot Anderson Silva, pound for pound one of the best MMA fighters in the business.

The premise of the ad imagines what it would be like had Silva fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a soccer player rather than an MMA fighter, only it turns out that he’s not actually that good and instead prefers on executing choke holds and deadly kicks on the players who enter his path.

That is until a slap in the face from Pele brings him to his senses and back to the octagon where he legitimately kicks ass once again, with the moral of the story being that everyone in Brazil, even those who have tasted huge success elsewhere, dreams of playing for the national team, even Anderson Silva.

It’s a little bizarre but also fairly enjoyable and a damn sight better than Pele’s infamous ads for Viagra, a product which he went to great lengths to tell anyone who would listen that he had absolutely no use for himself.

Whatever you say, Pele.
