Clear your schedule for tomorrow night, Manchester United fans; you’re going to want to watch this.
Ryan Giggs might have been one of the shortest-serving managers in the history of Manchester United, but his brief reign in the dugout is going to be the subject of a documentary, ‘Life of Ryan: Caretaker Manager’ on ITV tomorrow night.
In fairness, while Giggs will be the centrepiece, the documentary does promise to explore what was a difficult season at Old Trafford last season and reflect on the extraordinary and trophy-laden career enjoyed by the 40-year old Welshman, who hung up his boots at the end of this campaign after 23 years of playing in the top-flight.
Giggs himself will obviously feature strongly, but there will also be contributions from Giggs’ Class of ’92 companions – Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers – teammates of a more recent vintage like Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand, Sir Alex Ferguson and even Diego Maradona.
With a cast like that it seems as if it’s going to be a must-watch for Manchester United supporters, but it should make for perfect pre-World Cup viewing for all football fans as well.
Life of Ryan: Caretaker Manager airs on ITV One on Thursday at 9pm
