A Cork City Council meeting was suspended twice last night after protestors managed to make their way into the Cork City Council chamber.

Some uninvited guests occupied the Cork City Council chamber last night and as you can see from the video they made themselves heard. The anti-property tax campaigners ‘stormed’ the galleries and started chanting: “Go away, we won’t pay,” along with: “Labour, Labour, Labour. Out, out, out”. The sign being held above the gallery reads: Axe the tax or watch your vote collapse.

According to various sources the protestors remained in the galleries for some time and the Gardaí had to be called in to help remove them peacefully. The Kildare Nationalist reports that the Sinn Fein Councillor for Cork North Central, Thomas Gould, who was present at the meeting, said the protesters have right to have their voices heard.

As the saying goes, “You gotta’ fight for your right to party”.

Hat tip to Brian Houlihan for sending the video our way…
