Video: Daniel Sturridge’s goal against Aston Villa was a bit special

The finish might have been from about three yards out but Daniel Sturridge’s footwork in the build-up to the opening goal against Aston Villa was sublime.

Sturridge scored the first goal of the Premier League season against Stoke last weekend and both he and his team-mates looked in the mood at Villa Park this evening before taking the lead midway through the first half.

Receiving the ball at the edge of the box after a lovely and subtle dummy by Philippe Coutinho, Sturridge weaved his way through the Aston Villa defence before finishing to the roof of the net in unorthodox fashion to give the Reds the lead.
