Atletico Madrid continued their impressive early season form last night and Diego Costa scored a fine individual solo effort as they saw off Austria Vienna.
The La Liga pace setters, who suffered their first defeat since May at the weekend, recovered well to coast to a 3-0 victory over one of the weakest teams in the Champions League and Costa’s goal was both a classy individual strike and also a lesson in how not to defend.
The frontman grabbed a second early in the second half and the result keeps Atletico top of Group G with nine points from three games, five points clear of second-place Zenit St. Petersburg, who beat Porto 1-0.
