He hasn’t had his best season and he isn’t what you’d call a fans’ favourite, but every so often, Emmanuel Adebayor is capable of brilliant moments like this.
It’s a huge game for both sides at Stamford Bridge tonight as both Chelsea and Spurs stake their claims for Champions League places but there had only been one side in it for the first half an hour and Chelsea deserved the lead given to them by Oscar early on.
Despite being second best, Spurs only needed one chance to get back into the game and Adebayor took that chance in style when he curled a beauty beyond Petr Cech and into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Perhaps thinking that he wasn’t going to do any damage, the Chelsea defence backed off and backed off as Adebayor led a Spurs counter attack from inside his own half and when he got within shooting distance he rounded it off with a quite sublime finish.
